アイヌ語・アイヌ文化が衰退していった原因は、和人の入植者がどんどん増えていく環境で日本語を解さなければ仕事もできず、狩猟・漁労を一方的に禁止され和人の習慣に適応しなければ生活できなかったからだ。「アイヌは自分から同化していった」などと詭弁を弄する者はそのことを意識的に言及しない。
